Most structures will be based on plywood with preservative treated vertical battens covering joins and adding strength, all plywood edges are protected from moisture and the wood is all finished with a very high quality Norwegian paint which has a 12 year maintenance cycle.

Roof covering can be a very durable rubber membrane or a corrugated bitumen sheet, both these have very long life unlike some roofing felts which may blow off or deteriorate quickly in the Scottish climate.
